One of the best things about the Cybils is that we have to agree on a shortlist. Sometimes this comes easily — like it did for our panel this year — sometimes, not so much. Even so, there are always ones that we really like (both individually and collectively) that don’t quite make it on to the list.
Here are five books that I really loved but that didn’t make the cut:
What I have found in being a judge is seeing the difference of a book I really enjoy and a shortlist-able book. Sometimes it takes a while for me to let go, but I get it. And even the “good books” are a pleasure to discover. –Jennifer

The thing about panels — as you well know — is that we call have to agree. And sometimes ones some of us love don’t quite make it. I did love it, though.
