2012: March Wrap Up

I’ve got an interesting “problem” over here right now: I’m about three weeks ahead in my posting… which is good and bad. Good, because I don’t really feel any pressure to read fast, or finish lots of books, but bad because reviews will pop up on my blog, and I actually don’t remember what I said about them! (Whoops.) Do you try to get ahead in your blogging? (I didn’t used to be this way; I used to read a book, then blog about it. I really, honestly, have no idea how I got so far ahead.)

This month’s reading:

My favorite:

A Monster Calls

Most gratuitous review:

Highland Fling

Audiobooks:

Kitchen Counter Cooking School

The Spellman Files

The Middle Grade:

Amelia Lost

The Mighty Miss Malone

Legend
The Grand Plan to Fix Everything

Notes from an Accidental Band Geek

The lone graphic novel for the year:

Anya’s Ghost

And the rest:

Factory Girls

Goliath

Putting Makeup on the Fat Boy

Discovery of Witches

What did you like this month?

  1. I was wondering why your review of Factory Girls just appeared when I knew you'd finished it a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not reading as much now as usual, but I always post about a book when I finish it. I can't really think of a reason why I'd schedule posts of book reviews instead of posting them immediately, even if it somehow made things uneven. I wish you knew why you do it. 🙂

  2. I do try to stay a couple of weeks ahead in my blogging. I hate feeling like I have to read something–ANYTHING–just so I have something to post. So by staying ahead, I avoid some senseless reading.

  3. I am usually a month or two ahead in my posting. Since I've been in grad school this year, I use my vacation time to read a ton and write posts, so that I have things ready for the fallow weeks when all I can do is my homework and grading.

Challenging myself to review a novel in verse every Friday until 2013 also helps; I can breeze through a few of them in a weekend.

  4. Ahead in blogging?!?! Haha . . . hahaha. Surely you must be kidding. Actually, no. Back in the fall, posts were scheduled pretty regularly, and there wasn't that feeling of feeling rushed and *needing* to finish a book quickly in order to post.

Now, however, there's a bit of catch-up happening. Should be back to “normal” in a few weeks, though.

Oh, and this month? Just finished The Marriage Plot, which I loved. Other books this month have been decidedly meh.

  5. I know, I have about 12-15 book reviews mostly written waiting to be published, while the ones I'm reading now will probably be published next month. I don't much like it myself. Let me know if you figure that out 🙂
