Library Loot #19

Small haul this week because we’re off tomorrow for a quickie Memorial Day family reunion with my family. Who knows exactly how much we’ll read.

By the way, Hubby really enjoyed the Tiffany Aching books, and is currently reading Small Gods…

For A/K:
Chicken Soup with Rice: A Book of Months, by Maurice Sendak
Jack the Tripper, by Gene Barretta
Princess Baby, by Karen Katz**
Class Three at Sea, by Julia Jarman/Illus. by Lynne Chapman
I Love My Mami! (Dora the Explorer Ready-to-Read)
Show Me Your Smile!: A Visit to the Dentist (Dora the Explorer)

For M/me:
The Unnameables, by Ellen Boorean
Keturah And Lord Death, by Martine Leavitt*
New Girl (Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls), by Meg Cabot (oops, this is a book 2; I don’t know if she’ll want to read it…)
Here Lies Arthur, by Philip Reeve*
Dragon’s Heart: The Pit Dragon Chronicles, Volume Four, by Jane Yolen

The roundup is either at Out of the Blue or A Striped Armchair.

*Ones that M eventually read.
**Picture books we really liked.

  1. My little Red has taken to the shelf that holds all the paperback Dora books at the library. She just had her first dentist appointment today, and she saw the cover of the Dora dentist book on the back of one that we have at home right now– she INSISTS that we will find it during our next library trip. πŸ™‚

  2. Am I the only person in the world that finds the Dora books annoying? I read a couple aloud to kids over the years, and the kids might be learning, but the books are not very fun for the adults to read! This is why I like the children’s classics. They were fun for the adult and the child.

    Good haul, as always!

Reading Maria Snyder? I am waiting to see what you think!

  3. No, Kailana — I HATE reading them to my kids. Yet, they love them. This is something I don’t understand, especially when there are so many better books out there. But, since I refuse to buy them, I let them bring the Dora books home from the library. (Usually, I make them only choose one, but I made an exception yesterday.)

About Maria Snyder: when I decided to do the 48 hour reading challenge, I decided that I needed a really good fantasy trilogy to read. So, I’m saving it. πŸ™‚

Corinne — it looked really interesting; I’m planning on getting to it.

  4. If you squirrel it away before she can see it, you can order the first one from the library and then she can read them both, lol. (I end up doing that with my mom’s books sometimes XD)
