In Rose Daughter, Robin McKinley re-visits the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. This is not like her previous book, Beauty (which is an excellent youth fiction book in its own right); even though the characters are vaguely the same, they have different passions, different interests — it’s truly like two different people with the same name. And I enjoyed reading this version. The plot is too complicated to adequately go into here, but it’s a great story of living simply, loving fully, and being passionate about something.
