Curious about why the Middle Moffet for school. An example of really old writing to compare to current literature?

It’s our “classic literature” section. I have to read two books from a selection that I am not familiar with, and this was one of the two. (The other was Beezus and Ramona, which I am familiar with, but (amazingly enough) never have read.)

I’m envious that you’re taking a children’s lit class. I loved mine, and it gave me permission to read books I wouldn’t usually find time for. Looks like a good stack…I currently have so many books waiting to be read I have less of a TBR stack and more of a TBR bookcase (or two), but I’m focusing this year on rereading Stephen King’s books, and trying to keep up with what’s current in YA for my job as a high school literacy specialist.
